HOST4103 Expectations

Integrated E-Marketing: A Strategic Approach, this is a course that scares me. I am not very good with computers, I never have been, this however does not mean I do not understand the importance of E-Marketing. I have taken a similar course in a post graduate diploma program at Humber College several years ago, in that course we created a company and had to create a working website for our class to explore. I found it a great confidence builder and actually used the information I gained from that course and applied it to a summer work term I took upon completion of the diploma.
I guess that I am looking to come out of this class with a better understanding of E-marketing terms that will help to keep me in the loop with our fast paced industry. I have a decent business mind and enough education to have confidence in my ability to do everything except actually sitting in front of a computer like I am tonight and creating something that I know others will see. Every time I have dinner with my father he tells me how amazed he is at the Internet and what a tool it has become for my generation, not only for work purposes but as a communication tool with friends and family. I understand his point of view and in most ways agree with it, but I am still a little afraid of the Internet and the faith and trust people put into it, at the end of the day it is technology and is not always reliable.

Dear Melissa,
You are not alone in your fear and sceptism about the value of the Internet.

Use your point of view when designing e-messages and using technology as a marketer. You will be a better communicator because of it.
